Lot (4) 12 x 5mm Czech antique Victorian Saphiret navette oval faceted glass rhinestones. Saphiret is an early glass type used and was made during the late 1800s to mid 1900s. It was made in Czechoslovakia and Germany during the mid 19th century. The glass was made by adding real gold to sapphire colored molten glass. This created an amazing color combination. At the turn of the century when gold increased in value, it was not cost effective to continue production of the stone, so eventually the production of saphiret glass was halted which made it rare and hugely collectible
