Antique Czech dragons breath green round glass cabochon 18mm. With a layer of transparent green glass overlain by a dome of dragons breath glass which contains gold, giving the dragons breath flashes. The making of this glass was very labor intensive, so these stones were used in either precious metal or in very fashionable costume jewelry settings including the styles of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Arts and Crafts, and also in the vintage jewelry era. The stones were exported to other countries such as Germany and England where they were used to make fine gold and silver jewelry.
