Lot (7) antique Czech transparent topaz round faceted rosarian pin shank glass buttons. These are rare antique buttons from the turn of the last century. The glass was hand molded and hand faceted and then set with a loop shank and finished with a crystal rhinestone. The three 9mm buttons have rosette shanks, the four 10mm having plain loop shanks.

Shank: Metal loop rosarian pin shank

Rosarian: a term adopted for glass buttons with a hole through the centre like a bead. The shanks were usually made of brass wire, which was run through the hole, both ends being fastened to the knob on top. Most were finished with a loose metal ring around the shank. (Luscomb: Encyclopedia of Buttons).
