Large Austrian D.S antique hand faceted jet black glass bead 20mm. This is a beautiful bead with superb faceting and made of high quality glass. With 29 individual facets. A rare bead as it was made from a molded piece of glass and hand faceted to perfection. Being antique, it may have tiny fleabites to the corners under magnification

This was found in an early sealed Daniel Swarovski export box from around 1910. The Swarovski story began in 1895 in Wattens, Austria, when Daniel Swarovski invented a machine for cutting and polishing crystal. His invention not only revolutionized crystal manufacturing; it went on to inspire the worlds of jewelry, fashion, art, design and cinema over the next 120 years.
