Rare original Art Deco Austrian Bimini glass sculpture figurine "The Egret Bird"

Approximately 23cm

A truly stunning example of Art Deco modernism.

Bimini glass was started in 1923 by Fritz Lampl, an unemployed glass blower. He invited his brother in law Joseph Berger to design fantasy shapes.
The name Bimini comes from a poem by Heinrich Heine about searching for a fictional island called Bimini,
The Bimini glass figurines are so beautiful they are like frozen moments in glass or as they were described by Lampl "frozen poetry". Many figures use only one color and rarely more than two. There is a correctness in anatomy and posture; they are abstract and lack detailed features. But they always convey a feeling, an emotion and movement.
The success of the firm was considerable, gaining a number of prizes at the Paris 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts.
Unfortunately with the rise of Nazism in Austria, Lampl was forced to emigrate to England in 1936 where he created another well know company, Orplid.
