Lampwork Czech glass flowers

A few years ago we were fortunate enough to acquire the entire contents of a former button making factory in the Czech Republic. Included in the lot were almost 1000kg of antique glass cane. This cane dates from the 1900's to the 1940's and has the most remarkable pure colors with amethyst purple, Emerald green, Uranium, Ruby red, Amber, Cobalt blue and Sapphire blue to name a few.

After sitting on the cane for a long time, we found an incredibly talented lampwork glass specialist in The Czech Republic who knew how to work with old glass. Antique cane is a unknown entity and it requires someone with years of experience to work with it. Our inspiration came from the almost lost art of making miniature glass flowers which date from the 1900's to the 1930's.

As a result of the collaboration we have produced thousands of individual handmade wired glass flower headpins in the form of petals, leaves and berries. These have been made available for sale as individual headpins, most of which are listed on Etsy We are gradually adding select lots of lampwork beads and more complex handmade flower bouquets to our beadstory website

Wowza! I am a docent at Ten Chimneys, the historical house of Alfred Lunt & Lynn Fontanne, in Wisconsin, and we have a garland of these type of flowers around Lynn's dressing table. We have also boxes of petals with wires, ready to be made into flowers. I am researching the provenance of these, as we were told they came from an English glass factory run by Antoinette Fontanne Keith (Lynn's artist sister), but that the factory closed at the beginning of World War II because it was non-essential. I have purchased, in Prague in the 1990s, a nosegay of blue flowers identical to the ones at the top of your article, so I know they're still being made! Any information about your glass flowers, and the artist(s) that still make them might be helpful on our search to figure out where ours came from. Thank you for your time and attention to this. I hope to hear from you soon. Mary Ann Noe Author / Docent www.maryannnoe.com

I looked for flowers to put in my vase and came across your offer. I prefer your arrangement and would like to receive it. How much are you asking for it? How long do I have to wait? Lastly , I understand that all the glass flowers indicated in your offer are part of the arrangement! Am I correct? Thank you, MM
